Rail & Trail "Lake walk on promenades around Lake Klopeiner See"
From the Klopeiner See tourist information office, the path first leads through the tourist center of Klopein. The contemporary architecture barely hints at the fact that summer visitors have been enjoying the warm lake since the 1890s. On the way towards the southern shore, the shore area becomes narrower and the picture is dominated by lake houses and bathhouses. The first Wächterberg, the Kitzelberg (686 m), rises steeply to the right. From its forest summit, a viewing platform offers a spectacular panoramic view of the entire Jauntal valley. After the campsite, things get quieter and closer to nature: we walk along the edge of the lakeside forest directly along the lake shore. To our right rises the second guardian mountain, Gracarca (672 m). On its wooded summit are the remains of a hilltop settlement that was inhabited from the Iron Age to Roman times - possibly the legendary Celtic capital of Noreia. On the eastern shore, we finally enter the art mile of the lakeside promenade through an artistic entrance portal: works of art and stagings on the lake now invite you back to the northern shore to enjoy and linger. A stylish end to the promenade.

Key points of the route
Kühnsdorf-Klopeiner See train station is remote in the wide plain of the Jauntal valley, but offers a very good bus connection from the S-Bahn to Klopeiner See, the tour starting point. We recommend that leisure hikers take advantage of this. For passionate train hikers, there is the following foot connection: see here.
From the starting point "Tourismusinfo Klopeiner See" (bus stop "St. Kanzian/Klopeiner See Am See IV"), the route circles Lake Klopein in an anti-clockwise direction - preferably along the water.
