This hike with two natural monuments along the roadside runs south of the Dau with a few elevation meters on the way to Stein Castle right at the beginning.
The first part leads over a small forest path along a Way of the Cross up to Stein Castle. A group of tree-shaped junipers on the slope below Stein Castle represents a very rare vegetation variant that is actually not to be found in our latitudes and is therefore protected.
The castle itself cannot be visited, but the immediate surroundings are worth a visit. Then it goes comfortably downhill towards the village of Stein. Between the two small power plants at the roadside, keep an eye out on the right side for the "Tuffbachl", which is also under nature protection, before continuing to Dellach station.
Author’s recommendation
For those who have enough time, a visit to the cultural and natural monument "Burgbichl" is recommended right at the start of the small hike. Plan a total of 1.5 - 2 hours for this. Keep right at the display boards. The ascent to Burgbichl is at times quite steep, so surefootedness and a certain level of fitness are prerequisites for this additional program.
