CAI Dolomiti Bellunesi
Mountain bike route that allows you to reach the panoramic summit of Monte Tomatico from Feltre, passing through the village of Porcèn.
Among the most panoramic and historically significant peaks of the Feltrino area, this summit offers views stretching from the Dolomites to the Venice Lagoon, all the way to the Adamello Glacier. The effort made during the climb through the forest is rewarded by the extraordinary panorama from the summit cross; visible are the Venetian plain, the summit of Monte Grappa, the Sette Comuni Plateau, and the entire Valbelluna; the view of Feltre looks like it’s taken from a postcard and the Feltrine Peaks seem within reach, while on the horizon the Pale di San Martino and some of the main Dolomite giants emerge.
Beyond the beauty of the views, the route allows you to enter the area that was the scene of one of the fiercest battles at the end of the First World War, which took place in November 1917.

From Feltre, we follow the signs for Tomo, reachable after crossing the Caorame stream and completing an initial uphill stretch. Near the small square of Tomo, we turn right and reach the village of Porcèn, where we follow the CAI signs and turn left. From this point, the slopes become steep, interrupted only briefly by some flat or gently sloping sections.
Along the consortium asphalt road, we climb the northeastern slopes of Monte Tomatico up to about 1400 m, where the ground becomes unpaved and the slopes drastically decrease. Along this stretch, we pass through two pasture gates until reaching the panoramic summit ridge, where we follow the CAI trail over grassy terrain to the summit.
The descent takes place along the same route as the ascent.
