    Roadbook

The route follows the Carinthian state cycle paths, with additional signage to assist you at relevant points in finding your way!

    The sections in detail:

    • R7B "Kappelerweg": Treibach-Althofen station – Silberegg
    • R7C "Silbereggerweg": Silberegg – Guttaring – Mösel
    • R7A "Görtschitztal cycle path": Mösel – Klein St. Paul – Brückl
    • R5 "Glan-Gurk cycle path": Brückl – Reipersdorf – Glandorf
    • R7 "Friesacherweg": Glandorf – St. Veit an der Glan station
    • St. Veit an der Glan station – St. Veit an der Glan "Fuchspalast"
    • return by train

The route starts at the forecourt of Treibach-Althofen station. A tip for connoisseurs: Between Althofen and Pöckstein-Zwischenwässern you can enjoy genuine narrow-gauge charm with the Gurktal museum railway! From the forecourt of the station, the route leads right and after about 300 meters right again under the railway on the R7B "Kappelerweg" towards the center of Althofen up to the roundabout. Those who are not afraid of the very steep climb have the possibility to go straight to the old town of Althofen with the Auer-von-Welsbach Museum. However, the regular route leads from the roundabout right out of town on a cycle path over the Krappfeld towards Silberegg.

From Silberegg the route follows the cycle path R7C "Silbereggerweg" through the almost undeveloped "Rabachboden" along the Silberbach creek to Guttaring with a good rest possibility. From Guttaring the cycle path climbs steeply on the main road towards Mösel. Before the descent, a detour to the church "Maria Hilf" can be made. The route goes downhill towards Mösel, where it leads right onto the R7A "Görtschitztal cycle path" into the Görtschitztal. On the former railway track, you ride on the newly built cycle path, accompanied by the Saualpe as well as the Brückler and Guttaringer Bergland, steadily downhill to Wieting. In Wieting you leave the railway track and the cycle path now runs next to the road to the artistically influenced Klein St. Paul. The interesting foam dairy Sonnenalm and the Museum for Spring Culture are directly on the route.

The route continues downhill south to the village of Eberstein with the impressive castle complex and numerous excursion opportunities (e.g. Eberstein folk song house, medicinal herb garden, llama trekking, Noric panoramic trail, etc.). Continuing to Brückl, the route leaves the R7A "Görtschitztal cycle path" at the third roundabout and now follows the R5 "Glan-Gurk cycle path" towards St. Veit an der Glan. Attention: The next 5 km run on the heavily trafficked main road! With the impressive Hochosterwitz Castle in view, you leave the main road and thus reach the foot of the well-known castle complex directly. In Niederosterwitz, keep right and soon after turn left through a small valley steadily downhill to the energy site Sonnenpark Untermühlbach – the short detour is worthwhile! After Untermühlbach, turn right for 300 m on the main road and then right onto the cycle path R7 "Friesacherweg", which runs along the Glan. The route mostly runs parallel to the Glan through meadows and fields towards St. Veit. Where a bridge leads left over the Glan, keep right and reach the energy site Hallenbad. After crossing Völkermarkter Straße, you finally cycle through traffic-calmed residential streets through a railway underpass and over the station into the center of St. Veit an der Glan. The Fuchspalast forms the endpoint of this route. Also visit the St. Veit museum and enjoy the flair of the old town.
