With its multitude of connected lifts and well-groomed slopes, the Grande Giro delle Cime ski circuit guarantees pure skiing fun. The ski circuit around the highest peaks of the Sexten Dolomites is in no way inferior to the famous Sellaronda. The breathtaking panorama is literally "experienced" over about 34 km of slopes and 5,600 meters of altitude difference. In doing so, we cross five different ski areas: Helm, Stiergarten, Rotwand, Kreuzberg, and the Val Comelico ski area – all naturally with just one single ski pass.
Partial sections are covered with the Skishuttle SALTO.
This route can also be done as a shorter variant (Giro delle Cime).

Giro delle CimeRoadbook
The start and end point of the route is located at the new PUNKA service center in Vierschach. If you want to rent skis, need a ski pass, or just want to have a coffee before the route, this is the right place. Another dining option is the Gröber hut directly at the valley station of the cable car. Then you take the gondola to the mountain station. After a short descent over the Kamelbuckel, we take the chairlift a little further up to the mountain station of the 3-person Helm chairlift. At about 2200 m above sea level, we have now reached the highest point of the ski circuit.
If desired, you can make a detour to the Hahnspiel hut, then follows the first descent towards Sexten. Via the Hahnspieleck, it goes to the Lärchen hut, where we can take a break with a delicious snack as we please. Then we continue to the valley station of the Stiergarten lift, thus overcoming the next altitude meters upwards. From there we first enjoy the amazing view, then descend the Drei Zinnen slope to the "Hennstoll," a cozy hut with a beautiful sun terrace to relax and enjoy.
Then it's on to the Signaue lift, and with it up, then over an exciting descent down to the Putschall dining option. Next is the ascent to the Rotwand ski area. On the Rotwandwiesen, young skiers feel particularly comfortable: the funny giant snowman family makes children's eyes sparkle, and the visit to the only reindeer herd in the Italian Alps becomes an absolute highlight. Of course, you can also stop to eat up here, at the Rotwandwiesen hut or the Rudi hut.
Along the UNESCO ski trail and past Schellab, we leave the Rotwand ski area and immediately find ourselves in the Kreuzberg ski area. Here we only stay briefly: after a short ascent to the Kreuzbergpass, it continues onto the Popera slope, where a ski bus awaits at the end. But the skiing fun is not over yet. After a few minutes' ride, we are already in the Val Comelico ski area. We go up with the Col d'la Tenda lift and can immediately look forward to a nice stop at the Col d'la Tenda ski hut. On the sunny terrace, we have the perfect spot for lunch and enjoy specialties from Cadore. Then we start the descent and afterwards take the Skishuttle SALTO back to Kreuzberg.
With the Drei Zinnen lift, we go up to Stiergarten, then choose the Stiergarten descent. With the connecting lift, it's on to the Kristlerhang and past the Helmhang hut down to Sexten. Uphill again, the Sexten-Helm lift takes us, and right at the mountain station we pass the Helm restaurant, where we enjoy a small snack or a piece of cake while watching the "Dolomites cinema" from the Helm plateau, the view of the Sexten sundial, and the Haunold mountains. During the descent, after just a few meters, we reach the Jäger hut. Once again, we enjoy the beautiful panorama of the Sexten Dolomites from here, then continue back to the valley via the Helmissimo slope.
The crowning conclusion of a successful ski day is found at the PUNKA Après Ski, where DJs and live bands provide great sound and après ski fun late into the night.
