The route starts from the rental shop and crosses a bridge to the other side of Syväjärvi, from where it climbs up Kehä IV road to Syväjärventie. The route continues along a track next to the horse stable towards the Komulanköngäs waterfall.
There are several climbs along the route, which make the route moderately difficult. The route follows the same road back to the Ukkohalla rental shop building.

During the winter season, there is a SkiBus from Oulu and Kajaani to Ukkohalla.
From Paljakka to Ukkohalla, you can also take the SkiBus from Kajaani during the winter season.

Directions
- From the south and Kuusamo direction, take highway 5 to Hyrynsalmi, where you turn to Puolangantie road 891. Continue for 14.3 km and turn left at the village of Väisälä onto Hallanmaantie. Drive straight for 3 km, then turn left again onto Hallanmaantie and continue straight for 1.5 km until you reach the Ukkohalla center.
- From Rovaniemi and Oulu via Puolanka, take regional road 78, and 6.5 km after Puolanka turn left onto Hyrynsalmentie 891 towards Hyrynsalmi. Drive straight for 31 km and at the village of Väisälä turn right onto Hallanmaantie. Drive straight for 3 km, then turn left onto Hallanmaantie and continue straight for 1.5 km until you reach the Ukkohalla center.
- When using Google Maps, set Rasinkylä as an intermediate destination to get the correct route.

Free parking at Ukkohallantie 18.
A larger free parking area is available below the ski slopes at Tervakuja 1.
