Off-road around Štúrovo

Come with us to discover countless beautiful corners of the Danube and Hron rivers and get to know the surroundings of the town of Štúrovo, which is one of the most beautiful in the Danube lowland.

We set out on the route with a total length of 23.8 kilometers and an elevation gain of 33 m from the square in Štúrovo, starting directly from the fountain. Gradually, through Hlavná Street and Námestie slobody, we move to the cycling route along the Danube River, which is also part of the very important Pohronská cycle highway connecting Štúrovo and Tlmače. 

Enjoying the views of the mighty Danube, the kilometers on the quality surface pass quickly. We cross the railway track and the main road to the village of Kamenica nad Hronom. On the main road, we part ways with the Pohronská cycle highway and our next kilometers lead us along the Hron River. During cycling, we enjoy views of the Hron River, which springs below Kráľová hoľa in the Nízké Tatry mountains with a total length of 298 km and an average flow of 53.70 cubic meters per second.

We leave the dirt road along the Hron just before the village of Kamenný most, winding through its streets, passing the Church of St. Nicholas. We do not linger on the main road, and the blue-marked cycling route diverts us toward Modrý vrch, easily identifiable thanks to the tall transmitter. The cycle route further leads us past vineyards to the foot of the Vŕšok, where in 1965 the Vŕšok natural reserve was declared over an area of 1.45 hectares. There was no designated protection zone. Under Vŕšok, the blue cycling mark detaches and heads to the village of Belá, where tourists can visit Chateau Belá with a beautiful park dominated by roses, boxwood, or hydrangeas.

We say goodbye to the blue cycling mark and after crossing the railway tracks on dirt roads, we enter the village of Nána. Within the village, it is worth visiting the Nána manor house built in 1791. After Nána, we enter the town of Štúrovo and along the thermal swimming pools, where visitors can find 15 experience pools, we reach the route’s end located in front of the Elite pension Štúrovo.
