Strong cyclists will find more than enough views and elevation meters on the 55 kilometer route through the Hochwald holiday region and over the Rösterkopf.

    Author’s recommendation

In Bonerath it is worth stopping at the parking lot at the end of Hochwaldstraße, from where you can take a view of the dam and into the Ruwer valley.

    Roadbook

From Mandern we roll over farm roads to the neighboring village of Waldweiler and further towards the B 407, which we cross. Via forest paths we reach the glider airfield Kell am See and shortly afterwards the village Kell am See, where tired bikers can refresh themselves at the Hotel Zur Post or at the Hotel Typisch. Refreshed, we tackle the climb to the Rösterkopf, where the source of the Ruwer springs. Along the Rösterkopf circular trail it goes through the Misselbachtal to the Riveristalsperre and into the village of Riveris, from there to the village of Morscheid and back up to the heights of Hochwald. We pass Bomerath and the cultural monument "Drei Mörder", climb the Osburger Hochwald and ride towards Schillingen to the Freizeitanlage Schillingen with Spießbratenhalle, barefoot path and fishing pond. A descent takes us to the Ruwer and onto the Ruwer-Hochwald-Radweg, which we follow for a while in the direction of Mandern. Halfway you can see the Fleschfels rock formation, an impressive quartzite rock formation, through a clearing. Past the hiking hut, we let the route end on the paved path back to the starting point in the village of Mandern.
