Snowfarming is part of snow management. Since 2008 in Davos, a pile of snow is covered with sawdust every spring. This snow is used in autumn for preparing a cross-country skiing trail before new snow can be produced. Covering the snow preserves about 70-80% of the snow volume. This ensures an early season start independent of autumn temperatures.
The 4 km long Snowfarming trail is open again from Saturday, October 31, 2020. It can be used equally by athletes and amateurs.
