Of the trails in the Taunus that are regularly groomed with appropriate snow conditions, this one is, due to its elevation, together with the Weilsberg trail the most snow-safe. The route has a longer downhill stretch down to the Weiße Berg parking lot and also a longer ascent to Klingenkopf and is therefore somewhat more demanding than the Weilsberg trail.

On weekends with good snow conditions and weather, do not start too late. The parking lot at Sandplacken is large, but not unlimited. Moreover, the trails run on hiking paths and, even after being freshly groomed in the morning, become quite trampled after a few hours.

Information about the condition of the trails and the snow situation can be obtained from the snow phone: 06171 507817. In my experience, the statement according to the snow phone that there is too little snow to groom the trails does not necessarily mean that you cannot ski the route (then just ungroomed). You can get a relatively good impression of the snow situation via the webcam on the Großer Feldberg: https://taunus.info/webcams/schmitten-grosser-feldberg/13/. However, in this case, it is better to take skis with you for which a few additional scratches are not a problem.
- It is recommended to choose the direction of travel clockwise on a north-oriented map. This way you have the section at Klingenkopf, where individual large stones may protrude through the snow cover with thin snow, on the ascent and can easily avoid them.
- The trail is well combinable with the .
- The Weiße Berg trail north of the Weiße Berg parking lot, which is normally also combined with this round, is currently barely passable because the paths on which this trail usually runs are currently (as of January 2021) heavily disturbed by forestry work.
