TEN RULES FOR CROSS-COUNTRY SKIERS
The International Ski Federation FIS (Federation Internationale de Ski) has also issued ten rules for cross-country skiers:
1. Every cross-country skier must behave in a way that does not endanger or harm anyone.
2. It is necessary to follow markings and warning signs, and on cross-country trails, skiing in the designated direction is mandatory.
3. On double and multi-track trails, one must ski on the right track. Cross-country skiers in a group must ski on the right track one behind the other.
4. Overtaking is allowed on the right or left on the free track or outside the track. The skier in front is not required to leave the track but must yield if they believe it can be done safely.
5. When meeting others, every skier must move to the right.
6. When overtaking or being overtaken by another skier, poles must be held close to the body.
7. Every skier must especially on steep trails adjust their speed and movement to their skill, terrain conditions, traffic density, and visibility. They must also maintain a safe distance from the skier in front. If necessary, they must fall to prevent a collision.
8. Anyone stopping must step out of the cross-country track. A fallen skier should leave the track as soon as possible.
9. In accidents, everyone is obliged to help.
10. Everyone, whether a witness or involved in the accident, must provide their personal details regardless of who is at fault.
