Without major climbs, the route leads along two canals to the northeastern corner of the district.
The main theme of the 47 km long cycling route is artificially created waters. In addition to the historic Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal, the route also follows the Main-Danube Canal and the Rothsee.

Roadbook
From the station, we ride west into an extensive forest area. Just under 2 km after the start, we encounter the Ludwig Canal – Rothsee cycle path. We follow this northwards. The first place we reach is Harrlach, then we proceed to the charcoal production village of Furth. There we take a sharp right until we reach Sperberslohe. From here, the cycle path continues along the state road northwards, and after about 3 km, we turn onto the Old Salt Road. In Röthenbach near St. Wolfgang, we meet the historic Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal. Along the Ludwig Canal, we follow the Five Rivers Cycle Path through Wendelstein, initially heading towards Nuremberg.
After passing under the motorway, we turn left at Canal Lock 64 towards Kornburg. Via Kellermannstraße and past the water tower, we reach the A6 motorway again and pass underneath it. In Kleinschwarzenlohe, at the end of Kornburger Straße, we keep right and cross the state road at the church. Via Großschwarzenlohe, we continue to Leerstetten. Here the cycle path goes through the residential area west of the busy main road. From the water tower, the route then continues south to Schwand. At the marketplace, we turn right and shortly after leaving the village, we turn left again to the Main-Danube Canal at the Leerstetten lock.
For the next few kilometers, we follow the canal southwards. Opposite the Lände Roth, we leave the canal bank path again and reach the Rothsee via the road through Eichelburg, Heubühl, and Birkach. From the northern end of the lake, the cycle path leads us along the road in a few kilometers to the starting point at the station near Altenfelden.
