A true natural delight. The Tobelbach route takes us over meadows, forests, and tranquil hamlets. At various dairies, we have the tasty opportunity to sample regional cheese specialties.

In the center of Simmerberg, we start the circular route around the Tobelbach. Marker number 7 shows us the way. We leave the town eastwards via the Old Salt Road and turn towards Oberreute in Nagelshub.
We pass the hamlet Beule, go underneath Alpenstraße, and in Oberreute turn left twice to pass under the B308 again. Via Hopfen and Isenbretshofen, we reach Stiefenhofen on scenic paths. The town is also known for the local Allgäu herb garden Artemisia.
From Stiefenhofen, we go by road through Mittelhofen to Rutzhofen, where we find a dairy. Then we continue via Heimhofen and Schönau to Grünenbach.
In Grünenbach, we pass another dairy and cycle along the road to the entrance area of the Eistobel of the Upper Argen. Waterfalls and whirlpools give the ravine its unique character. Information boards explain the formation of this natural phenomenon. Wooden stairs and footbridges facilitate the descent into the forested gorge. We follow the road a bit further and then turn left via Eggen and Horben to continue to Gestratz.
After passing the dairy and the beautiful St. Gallus Church, we cycle left through Unterschmitten along the Röthenbach to Röthenbach.
After the church, the path ascends steeply. Shortly after traversing a cool forest, we cross the railway tracks and reach Ellhofen. We pass through this beautiful village on the main street. Slightly uphill, we continue over green hills. After the sports field, we cycle through a magnificent alley back to Simmerberg, our starting point, where we began our circular route. In town, it is recommended to finish with a meal outdoors in the fresh air.
Alternatively, Röthenbach, Gestratz, Grünenbach, Oberreute, and Stiefenhofen also offer suitable starting points for the Tobelbach route.
