Der gut gesicherte Weg durch den Eistobel hat an manchen Stellen den Charakter eines Spaziergangs, an anderen den einer Mittelgebirgswanderung mit alpinem Einschlag. Als Gehzeit für die 3,5 km lange Strecke sollten Sie 1,5 Stunden einkalkulieren. Bei Nässe kann der Weg an manchen Stellen glatt sein. Im Winter ist der Eistobel offiziell gesperrt. Die Wege werden in dieser Zeit weder geräumt noch gestreut. Neben angemessen warmer Kleidung sind folglich gute Wanderschuhe, am besten in Verbindung mit Grödel oder Steigeisen, ein Muss.
