Roadbook
The start is at the Klosterseehalle in Sindelfingen. There are also parking facilities there in case someone wants to pack the bike into the car.
Past the Dampfbahnfreunde (steam railway friends) facility, the route goes through the beautiful Sommerhofental valley to Hohenzollernstraße, where cyclists roll along the bike path over the Leonberger Straße intersection into Pfarrwiesenallee. Then, with a strong push, turn right from the gas station onto the forest path into the woods.
The route picks up speed, going uphill to the K 1065, Stuttgarter Straße, then into the forest toward the signposted Hölzertal. With the surrounding forests, the Hölzertal belongs to the Glemswald landscape and nature reserve. The Hölzersee, which cyclists reach following the signs, is a popular excursion destination.
From this cool and in summer certainly refreshing spot, cyclists come via the Frauenkreuz, where they must briefly join traffic on the main road.
At Frauenkreuz there is a forest parking lot, from which a forest path winds up to the large forest junction.
From there, signs point the way to Katzenbacher Hof. The cozy forester's lodge has offered a gastronomic experience for young and old for more than 30 years – including a large meadow for ball games and picnics.
Not far away, heading toward Büsnau and at the next forest junction, the Katzenbachsee lies to the right, which, along with the Stuttgart park lakes, belongs to the Rot- und Schwarzwildpark nature reserve.
From Katzenbachsee, cyclists head right onto Sallenwaldweg toward Vaihingen cemetery; from there, it goes slightly uphill to the cemetery parking lot, then right along the highway heading west.
At the highway bridge – admittedly not very romantic here – turn left, cross the highway, then follow the signs half right toward Sindelfingen.
For those who might already be a bit tired: it goes downhill on the old Vaihinger Straße. At the seventh (don’t forget to count!) forest junction, turn left, passing the forest playground to the Sindelfingen equestrian club, whose riding stable invites visitors to stay a while.
Back in the saddle over Mahdental- and Schwertstraße, past the Breuningerland parking lot to the Goldbach. The Goldbach area is an ideal leisure park for the whole family, with allotment gardens, the natural Goldbachsee, and the poultry and bird breeding facility. The beautiful terrace of the restaurant by the Goldbachsee invites guests to relax.
Almost finished with the route, follow the bike path towards the city center, then right over Neckarstraße, Remsstraße, and Gansackerweg. The fire station points the way to Klosterseepark.
The large playground in the southern third of the park area, equipped with water pumps, mud sandbox, and interesting play equipment, is especially popular with families on warm summer days. Right next to it, the Dampfbahnfreunde Sindelfingen offer steam train rides through the park on almost every Sunday and public holiday from April to October – a pleasure not only for small visitors.
