The name of the cycle path goes back to the legendary ride of Emperor Konrad, the first Salian on the Roman-German imperial throne, on 12 July 1030 from Bad Dürkheim to Speyer. On this day, according to tradition, Konrad is said to have ridden from the foundation laying at Limburg in Bad Dürkheim to Speyer to begin construction of Speyer Cathedral on the very same day.

Please wear a helmet. The road traffic regulations must be observed.
Our cycle routes often run along paths shared with others. We therefore ask for a considerate and friendly coexistence at all times. Winemakers, farmers, and foresters use the farm roads through fields, forests, and vineyards for their daily work (including weekends) and therefore always have priority. Due to work deployments and/or weather conditions, these paths may sometimes be more heavily soiled. Special caution is also required when riding on the (usually quiet and little-used) roads in and around the Palatinate towns.

Behind you the mighty cathedral and in front of you the cobbled Maximilianstraße, your route begins. Along the traffic-calmed Maximilianstraße towards the Altpörtel city tower and through it. Immediately afterwards, at Postplatz, shift right into Mühlturmstraße. After the railway crossing, again shift right into Holzstraße and follow along the Speyerbach out of the city. From Speyer you continue via Dudenhofen, Iggelheim, and Böhl to Meckenheim, where the Kaiser Konrad cycle path runs together with the Cabbage and Beet cycle path from the town center onwards. It continues to Niederkirchen and then towards Wachenheim; between Wachenheim and Friedelsheim, you leave the Cabbage and Beet cycle path again.
