E-bike experience with impressive views on a trekking route.
This 57-kilometer loop crosses the heights of the Rothaar Mountains twice. With the support of an e-bike, you can easily reach the highest point at 738 meters above sea level and already enjoy panoramic views of the north and south sides of the Rothaar Mountains on the way.

Safety information
Wearing a bicycle helmet should be self-evident for all cyclists.
Between Jagdhaus and Wingeshausen, on the south side of the Rothaar Mountains, there is a short, gravel steep section of about 50 meters. It is recommended to push the bike on this short section.
For e-bikes, the battery capacity should be checked in Jagdhaus (charging is possible during a stopover in local hotels). From Bad Berleburg onwards, a battery capacity of at least two-thirds is recommended to manage the return journey over the Rothaar ridge.

Roadbook
The red logo of the "Rothaar cycle route" first leads you from Schmallenberg up to the heights of the Rothaar Mountains, then through the Eder valley to Bad Berleburg Castle. The residence of the princely family of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg and its adjacent park grounds are a real highlight. A stop at the gastronomy near the castle is recommended to recharge both cyclist and bike to 100%.
On the way back, you cross the Rothaarsteig again and finally reach the high-altitude village Schmallenberg-Schanze, where two gastronomic establishments invite you to stop. From now on, it's time to "let it roll" – you ride steadily downhill on a lightly trafficked road to Grafschaft, which, with its monastery of the same name and beautiful half-timbered houses, represents another visual highlight of the route. Now it's just 3 relaxed kilometers to the historic old town of Schmallenberg, the starting point of your route.
