This circular route has the longest distance and leads through Gengenbach in the Kinzig valley with its half-timbered villages via Offenburg and the Rhine to Strasbourg and Obernai in Alsace. A more contrasting route could not be imagined - walk in the footsteps of the Romans and discover old wine and half-timbered villages, vineyards and forests as well as the European metropolis Strasbourg.

    Author’s recommendation

The Romans have left many traces in Ortenau. The Roman tower near Offenburg testifies to this, for example. It was once told by monks from Gengenbach that they had searched for underground dungeons. Roman soldiers under their commander Boebius appeared to them during this search.

At the junction under the bridge, half-right and at the next junction, 200 m further, again half-right on the small road following the signs to Eschau.
