The Pegnitz Valley Cycle Path is a roughly 32 km long cycle path winding along the Pegnitz floodplains, connecting in the north at Neuhaus a.d. Pegnitz to the Pegnitz cycle path to Bayreuth and in the south at Hohenstadt to the Five Rivers Cycle Path. Due to its flat route, this cycle path is especially suitable for families with children.
Along this route, there are sights every few kilometers, such as Veldenstein Castle in Neuhaus or the parish church and the historic barn quarter in Velden. In Rupprechtstegen, you can stop for a cozy break in the historic rest wagon. From here, a steep, approximately 5 km long detour to Hartenstein Castle with its knight museum, restaurant, and beer garden with a nice panoramic view is worthwhile.
Via Lungsdorf, a rock village with picturesque half-timbered barns, you get to Vorra, where a hay hotel and the Tetzelschloss, used as a school hostel, offer affordable overnight stays, and the Inselcafé invites you to rest. Above Eschenbach, the 6-hectare nature conservation center Wengleinpark can be explored on foot.
