Cycle over fields and through forests, enjoying wide vistas in many places. On the Nah.Tour.Radweg you traverse the typical Heckengäu landscape, passing by orchards, juniper heaths, and hedges. True natural treasures can be discovered here. Depending on the season, the Nah.Tour.Radweg passes through lush greenery as well as blooming splendor or harvest colors; it promises natural diversity as well as cozy villages and beautiful small towns.
The plateaus repeatedly offer opportunities to gaze into the distance, e.g., near Ihinger Hof or around Venusberg. The detour to Venusberg is richly rewarded with a heavenly panoramic view! After the only steep ascent at the start of the route between Silberberg and Weinberg, the beautiful “cultural view” awaits in Renningen. The paths are of good quality; inclines are rare and mostly moderate. Rarely can you cycle so close to nature.
The Nah.Tour.Radweg is based on a cycle path published by the city of Leonberg in 2002 and still finds one of its highlights in the circling of Venusberg. The Nah.Tour.Radweg starts at the S-Bahn station in Leonberg-Silberberg (S-Bahn stop Rutesheim!). The silver thistle on a green background marks the way in the recommended direction. An additional map is not absolutely necessary.
Along the S-Bahn stations in Leonberg, Rutesheim, Malmsheim, Renningen, Maichingen, and Weil der Stadt individual route entries and exits are possible. The varied route offers many highlights – be it the Venusberg nature reserve, the impressive parish church of Weil der Stadt, or the old cemeteries near Dätzingen Castle and at Ihinger Hof. Refreshment options in the villages and near the route ensure your physical well-being.
As an easy cycle path with some individually gentle inclines, it runs through hilly terrain. A steep but short (200 m) ascent must be overcome right at the beginning of the recommended direction between Silberberg and Weinberg. You are rewarded for this at Längenbühl with a view to the southeast.
