From the Bruchsal city center, you head to the Metzgerallmend gravel pit, a bathing paradise in the Untergrombach district. The island in the middle of the lake is a biotope and must not be entered. In Weingarten, a gravel pit with turquoise water and numerous leisure opportunities awaits. A detour to the legendary Weingartener Moor nature reserve is recommended. The Grötzinger gravel pit is also very popular, although no explicit bathing operations take place there. On the other hand, the Buchtzig bathing lake in Ettlingen-Bruchhausen offers an open-air pool flair. Numerous leisure activities complete the bathing pleasure. One of the best-known and largest leisure centers is Lake Epple in Rheinstetten-Forchheim, which is also very popular with surfers. In Rheinstetten-Neuburgweier, you will find Lake Ferma. It is half designated as a nature reserve and changes its appearance depending on the water level. The Rhine beach bath Rappenwört in Karlsruhe is one of the largest open-air pools in Germany with an area of 16 ha. The five pools (solar-heated swimming pool, wave pool, diving pool, paddling pool, and adventure pool) offer a varied bathing experience for young and old. From there, it goes past the Karlsruhe harbor to Lake Knielingen. The Altrhein Kleiner Bodensee nature reserve lies in the districts of Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen and Neureut; the gravel pit "Im Pfeiffersgrund" is integrated into the area. In Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen, the Mittelgrund as well as Fuchs and Gros gravel pits invite you to swim and relax. Then it continues to the Linkenheimer gravel pit Streitköpfle, whose large sandy beach transitions into a beautiful peninsula. You can get active at the beach volleyball court. The Hochstetten gravel pit is only separated by a narrow green belt from the Dettenheim gravel pit Giesen, which is in direct proximity to the well-known island Rott and impresses with a huge sandy beach. Between Huttenheim and Rußheim, there are two lakes that invite you to linger: on the one hand, the Pfandersee, which belongs to the municipality of Dettenheim. On the other hand, the Hardtsee-Bruhrain, which belongs to the municipality of Graben-Neudorf, with bathing shores on the northern and southern edges. Between Philippsburg and Altrhein, you will find the Ernst-Freyer-Bad, a combination of open-air and natural pool as well as a campsite. In Oberhausen-Rheinhausen, the Erlichsee leisure center offers extensive recreational activities. Accommodation is available at the campsite. Located south of Kronau, you will also find Lake Althäusersee with a campsite directly by the lake. To the north of Kronau lies the Lußhardtsee. The nearby forest offers plenty of shady spots in hot temperatures. From Kronau, a detour to the spa town Bad Schönborn is worthwhile, where the "Thermarium" with wellness and health park invites you to relax. Next, continue to Forst. The Forster Heidesee is a great leisure center. A special bathing highlight is the water slide with a length of 225 meters. On colder days, you can warm up in the sauna area. Between the districts of Ubstadt and Weiher lies Lake Hardtsee, which offers a great sandy beach on the northern shore. The campsite invites you to stay overnight. From Ubstadt-Weiher, it goes back to Bruchsal.
