Section of the Art Cycle Route between Bodenburg and Lamspringe.
At the sculpture „Boundary Stone“, the symbol of separation as a sign of understanding, between the municipality of Bodenburg and Sehlem, the section „Kunst-beWEGt“ begins. From here, the bike route goes via Sehlem, Harbarnsen, Netze, and Graste to Lamspringe. The 9.7 km section takes about an hour. Since 2003, the sculpture „EURO-DANCER“ has been located further along near Harbarnsen. In the municipality of Lamspringe, you will find a nearly completely preserved half-timbered street. The spacious monastery park and the monastery church of the former Benedictine monastery, whose baroque furnishings are among the most valuable and beautiful in Lower Saxony, as well as the Sophienkirche shape the townscape of Lamspringe.

Sweden Stone and Half-Timbered Buildings The history of Sehlem dates back to the 12th century. The „Sweden Stone“ still reminds of the devastations and plundering by Tilly's troops during the Thirty Years' War. Along the bike route via Harbarnsen, Netze, and Graste you reach Lamspringe. Here the impressive monastery church of Lamspringe will catch your eye, visible from afar. Restored half-timbered buildings, the spacious monastery park, and the baroque monastery church with the adjacent Benedictine monastery characterize the townscape. The monastery was founded in the year 847 by the Saxon count Ricdag.
In the 17th century, the Prince-Bishop of Hildesheim handed over the monastery to English Benedictine monks. They first had the hall church rebuilt before the construction of the abbey and convent buildings took place. The monastery church of Lamspringe, with its magnificent interior and baroque furnishings, is one of the outstanding sights of the region. The small river Lamme, which gives Lamspringe its name, springs in the monastery park. In addition to ponds and lush trees, some modern sculptures are located in the park.
Once a year, the monastery takes center stage: international artists gather for the „Lamspringer September“.
The Protestant Lutheran Sophienkirche, built in 1692, shows 12 biblical paintings by the Lamspringe artist Micha Kloth on the gallery panels. These paintings depict events and festivals from the biblical church year throughout the year.
Kunst-beWegt The name derives from the sculpture program on this section, which focuses on sculptures that incorporate wind, sun, gravity, or water as moving elements. Movement is meant here in a double sense. On one hand, the physical movement visible and whose changes manifest depending on weather or season. The logo thus represents a „frozen“ movement. On the other hand, it refers to the ability of art to move the observer emotionally. Together this leads to the observer moving, getting on their bike, and „setting out on the way“.
New: At the end of 2020, the sculpture „Frau Holles Haus“ by artist Hans-Oiseau Kalkmann was installed on this section.
