Land der 1000 Hügel - Kraichgau-Stromberg
This route leads with views of vineyards through nature reserves and floodplain landscapes along the Kraichbach - from the source in Sternenfels to the mouth in Ketsch
From the source downstream, three landscapes with different characters are explored with the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park, the Kraichgau and the Upper Rhine Plain: sunny vineyards in the upper reaches, enchanted forest lakes and dense forests, open cultural and floodplain landscapes shaped by agriculture in the middle section, and a plain influenced by the Rhine with numerous gravel lakes in the lower reaches. There are several opportunities for stops. You will pass the most beautiful sights of the individual communities and get to know the lifestyle of the Baden people: rustic Besenwirtschaften and impressive half-timbered houses, old castles and interesting museums, numerous wineries, as well as beautiful bathing lakes inviting you to linger.
Author’s recommendation
A stop at the wildlife enclosure in Sternenfels or the mini golf course at St. Leoner See is well worth it, especially when you are traveling with children.
