Heidengrab route

Meissenheim – Lahr 20.5 km

• The start of the route is the church in Meißenheim.
• From there, proceed on Friedrichstraße northwest. Over the Mühlbach and out of town on Stockplatzweg.
• Turn left at the gravel pit, follow it along to the Rhine.
• Now follow the Rhine cycle route on the dike for 8 km towards Rheinhausen.
• Just before the former customs house and the bridge to Gerstheim (F), turn left into the floodplain forest towards Lahr.
• At the bridge in the forest, continue straight along the canal. After the forest, continue for 5 km along the Schutter relief canal, sometimes south, sometimes north.
• Now go down from the dike straight through the underpass and immediately then right along B36 to Lahr.
• Cross Raiffeisenstraße, then follow the bike/pedestrian path over the tracks and along Vogesenstraße.
• Then parallel to Römerstraße into the town.

Lahr – Meissenheim 30.0 km (50.5 km)

• In Lahr, turn left into Alte Bahnhofstraße, right into Lotzbeckstraße, then left into Schillerstraße along the city center.
• At the T-junction turn left, then next right into Liebensteinstraße, straight over the intersection and follow Obere Bergstraße to the junction Obertorstraße. Turn left here uphill. This becomes Friesenheimer Weg.
• Follow the road towards Friesenheim for 3 km.
• In town, bear right into Im Berg, then left into Friedenstraße and in the town center left, now follow Friesenheimer Hauptstraße left to Friesenheim station.
• Through the underpass, then on the street Am Bahnhof to L118. Turn right there and continue through the town on Schutterner Hauptstraße.
• At the town exit, after the cemetery, turn right and follow the outskirts.
• Turn right onto the main road, then next left into Inder Kruttenau street.
• Left over the bridge, straight past Bockswinkelhof, then left onto the district road and right over the motorway.
• Immediately after the bridge over the stream, turn right to Schutterzell. On Marödelstraße turn left into the village. At the yield sign go straight and turn left at the town hall into Mühlweg. Follow this out of town.
• After about 1 km, at the four-way junction bear half left towards Dundenheimer Mühle. Cross the district road, then left along the stream. Through the underpass, then left and the second right to Dundenheimer Mühle.
• There follow the paved path left around the curve through the woods. After the shooting range turn left, at the next four-way junction right, and at the T-junction left, follow Kirchenweg into Ichenheim.
• In the town center turn right into Rheinstraße. Shortly before leaving town turn left into Herrstraße.
• Out of town, through the forest, then turn left back to the starting point in Meißenheim.
