Hærvejssløjfen

On this trip you explore The Ancient Road Hærvejen and the area around Jelling - Home of the Viking Kings.

The route is not signposted.

From Jelling you follow the route up through the small settlement Hygum, and further west and north towards Harresø Kro. You cross Vejlevej, and come on gravelroad along Hærvejen towards Kollemorten. At Præstevejen, turn left towards Givskud, you are now no longer on Hærvejen's signposted route.

In Givskud you cross Vejlevej again, and cycle along Kirkebakken and Pottervej. Continue in the direction of Farre, and turn right onto Birkebækvej towards Riis.

From Riis, the trip goes along Østerhovedvej towards Give.

From Give you continue along Skovbakken and Ullerupvej towards Ullerup. In Ullerup, turn right onto Ulleruplund, which you follow all the way to Vejlevej. Vejlevej is not really suitable for cyclists, but you should not follow it other than approx. 300 meters before you cross it, and cycle on along Lønåvej towards Thyregod.

From Thyregod, the trip continues along Vesterlundvej towards the small village Vesterlund. Here you turn off Tinnetvej, and follow it over fields and through forest, until you hit Hærvejen by Tinnet Krat again.Hærvejen runs south towards Kollemorten, before continuing along asphalt roads through open farmland towards the small town of Hygum and back down to Jelling.
