Enjoy picturesque river valleys
The landscape here is especially shaped by the tributaries of the Danube. Therefore, water is the accompanying element on this route.
This bike route leads through the valleys of the Ablach, the Andelsbach, and the Ostrach. From Mengen, it first goes along the Ablach to the Zielfinger Lakes. For a break, the "Haus am See" offers itself here, with a terrace that provides a magnificent view of one of the many lakes. The route continues along the lakes through the European bird sanctuary to Krauchenwies. The Vogelsee is a former gravel pit lake known for its biodiversity. Many birds nest here or stop on their way to their winter quarters in the south. After leaving the Ablach valley, the route slightly climbs and leads through Hausen and Zell am Andelsbach up to shortly before Kalkreute. Once at the top, the route then runs almost flat until, just before Ostrach, it descends again into the valley of the Ostrach. It continues over Jettkofen and Einhart to Granheim. Behind Granheim, the route climbs once more briefly and leads back over the Missionsberg to Mengen.
