Start your route in historic Friesach. Leave the town heading west and follow the road to Metnitz. This route offers beautiful views of the surrounding hills and forests. Upon arriving in Metnitz, you can visit the Metnitz Dance of Death, a unique historic fresco.
Next, continue to Auen, a small, idyllic village, and from there to Stadl. The route takes you through quiet, rural areas, ideal for enjoying nature. In Stadl, you can take a short break before continuing your journey to Flattnitz. Flattnitz is known for its picturesque landscape and the Flattnitzer Höhe, a popular destination for nature lovers.
From Flattnitz, you continue to Glödnitz, a charming place in the Gurk valley. Then it goes to Gurk, where you can visit the impressive Gurk Cathedral, one of Austria’s most significant Romanesque cathedrals. Your route then leads to Straßburg, a historic town with numerous sights.
Afterwards, you go to Hirt, known for the Hirter Brewery, one of Carinthia’s oldest breweries. To finish your route, return to Friesach, where you can review the many impressions of this varied route.
