The Forest Deed route leads you from Kork, where the bull is buried today, through the beautiful Hanauerland with its well-known half-timbered villages to the border crossing at Rheinau and back through the Kork forest.

    Author’s recommendation

The parish community of Kork, Bodersweier, and Linx once disputed with Zimmer over a forest. Finally, they let a bull run to decide the size of the forest area. The boundary was determined by the bull run and established in the Kork forest deed.

    Kork – Appenweier 15.5 km

    • The start of the route is "Auf dem Bühl" in Kork. Here stands the Kork bull.
    • From there, head to the church, then left, and follow the bike/pedestrian path past the hospital out of the town.
    • Turn left at the L90 and follow the signage for the bike trail along the main road to the B28. Before the bridge, change sides of the road, then along the B28. Shortly after the bike trail junction, turn left, go to and then right over the bridge to Willstätt.
    • Straight ahead to the "main road," turn left there, continue straight at the roundabout – now on the bike path – then about 200 m further, turn right around the curve and over the bridge.
    • Through the underpass (B33), then over the bridge across the B28, then left, back to the B28, and follow this eastward on the bike path towards the highway. Follow the service road over the bridge across the A5. After crossing the highway, turn left and continue on the bike path along the B28 about 600 m.
    • At the forest edge, just before the rest area, turn left, then immediately left again, over the bridge, and along the stream northward. Over the tracks, turn right around the curve, and after the bridge turn left, then right along the Wannenbach.
    • At the road, turn right, then left towards the station, through the underpass and along "Bahnhofstraße" into the town center.

    Appenweier – Rh-Rheinbischofsheim 17.5 km (33 km total)

    • On "Ortenaustraße" (B3), turn left and at the bending priority road continue straight into "Römerstraße." Follow this out of town.
    • After about 2 km, past the landfill, turn left into "Holzweg." At the end, go straight over the B3, over the tracks, then right, cross the main road and take the bike/pedestrian path into Urloffen. Straight on "Vogesenstraße," then right into "Renchenweg," at the roundabout turn left into the town center.
    • On the "main road" turn right, then left into "Mattenstraße" and follow this out of town, continue north over the A5.
    • Soon along the canal, then to the district road. Cross it straight and enter the forest. At the T-junction near the hut, turn left and follow the last section to Rh-Rheinbischofsheim along the K5311.

    • First right, then immediately left into "Friedenstraße," left again into "Grasweg" and at its end follow K5364 left to Zierolshofen.
