Direction Erding-Freising
----------------------------------------
We start at the center of the former ducal town, the Schrannenplatz. Our route is very well signposted with the guidance "Durchs Erdinger Land" up to the Freising district border.
We turn north and enter Lange Zeile by the Sparkasse building, passing the brewery restaurant "Weißbräu" and leaving Erding's shopping mile to the left again, crossing the Fehlbach and joining Freisinger Straße on the right.
We follow this for about a kilometer, at a snack stand on the right we turn into the now narrower street. It leads directly to the southern cycle path along Anton-Bruckner-Straße and past the famous wheat beer brewery. We continue westward. At the end of the cycle path, by the posts, we leave the town area and ride through wide fields. The route now runs almost straight until we see a large solar park on the left.
It goes slightly uphill as we cross the Isar canal. At the next intersection, we turn right onto Herrnstraße and cycle into Niederding. In the town center, at the bus stops, right again, a short stretch along the main street, past the church St. Martin, towards Erding, and immediately after the group of trees left again towards Reisen. We cross a busy road on a bridge and arrive in Reisen. We continue through the village towards Eitting.
Before Eitting, we turn sharply left (not through the underpass!), leaving the hydropower plant on the Isar canal and the village of Eitting on the right, following the very shady street "Am Moosrain" to the T-junction with Gadener Straße. We turn left here. Then we carefully cross district road ED 19 (Erding-Munich airport), ride over the A 92 and a short distance towards Gaden. Before Gaden, at the edge of the Isar floodplain forest, we turn left into the pleasantly shady forest road towards Riegerau, which we pass through.
We pass several ponds that invite swimming and follow the sign "Marzling".
TIP: Only about 500 m further, but somewhat off and to the left of our actual route, there is the bathing area "An der Stoibermühle" with leisure facilities. We cross the motorway, keep right and then reach the bathing lake with shady loungers in green surroundings, public toilets, and next to it a catering business with beer garden and children's playground.
However, those "not swimming" turn right before crossing the motorway bridge towards Marzling. Initially still cycling through open fields, we soon reach the Isar floodplain. We cross the Isar, cycle past the sports grounds into Marzling. After passing under the railway line, we turn left into Moosachweg, pass through a small residential area and shortly afterwards follow the Moosach.
Cycling between allotment gardens on the right and railway line on the left, we reach the city of Freising at the end of the path and, turning sharply left, cross the railway line. After the crossing, continuing to the right, we follow the very low-traffic Parkstraße, which leads us past more allotment gardens and a skating facility. We leave a sports field on the left, go under a bridge spanning Parkstraße here, and continue straight into Schiessstättstraße. After about 200 m we turn left into Erdinger Straße and then immediately right into Parkstraße. After a short left / right bend, we reach an underpass under the railway line on the right. Cyclists have to dismount briefly here for their own safety. After the underpass, we follow the cycle path on the left along B 11 (Ottostraße) until we cross it after about 200 m at a pedestrian refuge (traffic island).
We are now on Fürstendamm, a well-rideable gravel path that leads directly into the city center. At the beginning of Fürstendamm stands on the left in the green area the statue of the last Freising prince-bishop, Baron Josef Conrad Schroffenberg.
At the so-called Mohrenbrunnen, we meet Bahnhofstraße, which we follow turning right. Passing a high brick wall, we shortly reach the War Memorial in the upper main street of Freising. Here ends our official route. To reach Marienplatz, we turn right into Obere Hauptstraße, which leads us directly to Freising town hall and Marienplatz with its Marian column. Numerous gastronomic establishments invite you to a cozy stop here (on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, there is an additional market) and of course, you can also visit the Domberg from here, which due to the steepness and cobblestones is best climbed on foot.

At the start point of the route, the Freising War Memorial, we turn right into Bahnhofstraße. On the left the Domberg greets from above and a high brick wall accompanies us out of town.
We cross the Moosach bridge and pass the so-called Mohrenbrunnen. Continue straight towards the station. We come to a junction with a traffic light and cross straight ahead. Shortly before the station, we turn left and ride over the bus station and past a bike station. After the bus station, we follow the accompanying cycle path along the B11 (Ottostraße) for approx. 400 meters and then go under the railway line (beware of pedestrians and oncoming traffic in the underpass). Immediately after the underpass, we follow the small street to the left until we reach the junction of Parkstraße and Erdinger Straße, where we continue straight on Parkstraße. We pass the employment agency and follow Parkstraße in the left curve and ride under the bridge. After a few metres, Parkstraße meets Schiessstättstraße, where we turn right and ride past the sports field. Parallel to the road on the left side runs the railway line.
Now it goes always straight on, past allotment gardens and a practice area for skaters, until we turn left again and cross the already mentioned railway line (barrier). Then we immediately turn sharply right into Marzlinger footpath. Initially cycling between railway and allotment gardens, shortly afterwards only the Moosach accompanies us.
After about two kilometers on the car-free and well-asphalted route, we reach Marzling. We cross a residential area and turn right at the priority road (Isarstraße). We again pass under the railway line and ride past the sports ground and cross the Isar bridge. Signage around the river itself indicates the Isar cycle path – one of the significant long-distance cycle routes in Bavaria.
We soon leave the shady floodplain forest, the countryside opens up and we reach the "Marzlinger Lakes", which offer a welcome refreshment on hot days.
TIP: Only about 500 m further, but somewhat off and to the right of our actual route, there is the bathing area "An der Stoibermühle" with leisure facilities. We cross the motorway, keep right and then reach the bathing lake with shady loungers in green surroundings, public toilets, and next to it a catering business with beer garden and children's playground.
However, the "non-swimmers" already turn left at the height of the "Marzlinger Lakes" before crossing the motorway bridge towards Gaden and Riegerau.
From here, the route is very well signposted again to Erding with the guidance "Durchs Erdinger Land".
Neue Kulturstraße takes us to Riegerau, which we pass through; then the street name changes to Gadener Weg and finally Forststraße. At its end, before Gaden, we turn right and ride about five kilometers towards Eitting. Along the way, we cross motorway A 92, cautiously also district road ED 19 (Erding airport), and finally cycle near Eitting to the bridge over the Isar canal.
But before that, we turn right into the street "Am Moosrain." We leave Eitting and the hydropower plant on the Isar canal on the left. After a long left curve, we turn sharply right towards Reisen (not through the underpass!). We pass through Reisen, a bridge takes us over the airport tangential east and we reach Niederding. At the T-junction, we turn right into the main street, past the church St. Martin, follow it a short distance and then turn left at the bus stop at the village square into Herrnstraße. We cycle this until the end of the village, turn left there towards Erding. It goes slightly uphill over the Isar canal and we see a large solar park on the right.
Almost straight, we cycle through wide fields to the first houses of the city of Erding. At the posts, the municipal cycle path begins along Anton-Bruckner-Straße and past the Erding wheat beer brewery. After three intersections, it leads us half-right towards the city center. It ends at Freisinger Straße, which we follow to the left. At Krankenhausstraße, it goes left over Fehlbach bridge and immediately right again into Lange Zeile. At its end, we cycle directly towards the Sparkasse building. The tower behind it is the Erding city tower. Our destination on the left: the wide Schrannenplatz, whose name still indicates that the former ducal town of Erding was the second largest grain transshipment place in old Bavaria in the 15th and 16th centuries.
