Mittelholstein Tourismus e. V.
On this route, you can experience the charming and unique natural landscape in all its facets.
Thanks to the foresight and a considerable degree of self-interest of former inhabitants, our region still possesses a significant proportion of forest today. In earlier centuries, the forest was greatly pushed back by forest grazing as well as deforestation. To protect the forest and the wildlife populations, "hegegehölze" were created: forest areas that were surrounded by a fence. The name has been retained to this day. During this route, experience the soothing alternation between attractive landscape and cool shade beneath the tree canopies in the Hohenwestedt area. The start and finish point is the municipality of Hohenwestedt. You will pass through the municipalities of Stafstedt, Luhnstedt, Nindorf, Heinkenborstel, Mörel, Rade, and Tappendorf.
