The approximately 65-kilometer-long river between Bad Driburg and Emmerthal is especially charming on the section between Steinheim and its mouth into the Weser. Natural experiences, cultural highlights, and buildings full of history and stories follow along the Emmer river course like a string of pearls.
The approximately 50-kilometer-long route starts in Steinheim and runs from there via Wöbbel, Schieder, Lügde, Bad Pyrmont, Löwensen, Thal, Welsede, Amelgatzen, and Hämelschenburg to Emmerthal, following the course of the Emmer. Baroque buildings such as the castle garden of Schloss Schieder, the Schiedersee, the award-winning Bad Pyrmont spa park, Weser Renaissance buildings like the famous Hämelschenburg, rare animal and plant species, as well as historical events such as the secret wedding of the English crown prince Prince William in 1791, offer a highly varied and entertaining bike excursion.
The route goes through green meadows and idyllic villages, and in the numerous gastronomic establishments, you can indulge your palate. In addition, a very special experience awaits you: a ford crossing! At the endpoint Emmerthal, there is also a connection to the Weser cycle path or the possibility to take the S-Bahn back to Steinheim.

From Steinheim, follow Sedanstraße onto Nieheimer Straße and then Buchentalsweg. At the intersection after Ostwestfalenstraße, the route turns left through the fauna-flora habitat area Emmeroberlauf and Beberbach. The path then returns to Ostwestfalenstraße onto Wiechersweg, where you keep left and reach Emmerweg. From here, the route leads to Höxterstraße, where you keep left and after a few meters turn right onto Schiederstraße. At the next intersection, turn left onto Am Kuhkamp street and proceed for a few hundred meters to Wöbbeler Straße. The route now turns right onto Friedenstalstraße and passes through Wöbbel. At L886, the path turns right and continues via Detmolder Straße to Schieder. From Wallstraße, the route turns left through a forest area to Schlossstraße, where you turn left onto Parkallee. At the next intersection, the route goes right and you follow the street 'Im Emmerthal'. The path runs through a forested area near Schieder reservoir, which is crossed on Am Staudamm street. Follow the street and turn right after several hundred meters onto Emmerweg, following it through the forest area for several kilometers. Then turn left onto Silberbrink and shortly after turn right onto Fuchsholz street. The route leads onto Höxterstraße towards Lügde. At the local history museum, go straight along Mittlere Straße and take the 3rd exit in the roundabout onto Pyrmonter Straße. At the next intersection, the path turns left onto Brunnenstraße, which leads into Emmerweg and passes through the nature reserve to Bad Pyrmont. From the Bad Pyrmont tourist information, follow Südstraße and Bahnhofsstraße to the outskirts of Bad Pyrmont. At the train station, the route turns left and follows Lügder Straße for a few hundred meters, then turns into Dringenauer Straße towards Löwensen. In Löwensen, go right under the S-Bahn tracks and follow In der Marsch street to Thal. Here, the cycle path turns right and crosses the Emmer, passes through the village, and then turns left onto L429, reaching Welsede. The L429 then turns left, while the cycle path continues straight ahead, following the course of the Emmer through meadows and along the forest edge. The route passes the village of Amelgatzen located on the opposite bank and follows the river course further to Hämelschenburg. The castle there, Schloss Hämelschenburg, built in the Weser Renaissance style, is visible from afar, and a café invites you to linger. Then you cross the Emmer again and continue on the opposite bank towards Emmerthal, where the Emmer cycle path ends at the Weser bridge. Crossing this bridge allows you to continue the route immediately on the Weser cycle path.
