Roadbook
The thematic cycling loop “Fauna and Flora” starts from the town of Slavonice along CT1004 towards the village of Stálkov to the first stop at the home zoo in Bejčkův Mill. From there, continue along the connecting road past the fortification museum, where you turn left onto CT32, then after less than a kilometer, turn left again onto CT1003, which leads you to the village of Maříž, famous for Maříž ceramics. Continue along CT1003 and, about a kilometer beyond Maříž, leave it by turning left towards the abandoned village of Leštnice, then cross the Czech-Austrian border. The route then goes through the villages of Reinolz and Rudolz, where at the end of the village you can visit (by prior phone arrangement) a cowshed with classic dairy cows. Continue to the village of Reibers. From Hohenau the route continues to Dobersberg, the village of Tiefenbach, and from there by a connecting road directly north to Gross Taxen. The route returns to the Czech Republic via the Czech-Austrian border crossing, passes the abandoned village of Košťálkov, and leads to Staré Město pod Landštejnem. From there, the route climbs steeply along with CT1006 to over 600 meters above sea level to the village of Stálkov, after which you turn right after about 2.5 km onto CT1004, which leads towards Vlastkovec. Before it, on the right side, you can see a game reserve with deer and roe deer. After Vlastkovec, turn left onto a field path around the “Vlastkovec cowsheds” to the homestead Rubášov, then cross the road from Slavonice to Český Rudolec. Via a field path, join the road from Dačice, which you follow towards Slavonice. On the way to Slavonice, you will pass a left turn to Mutišov, where if you turn off the route, you can visit the herb garden. Just before the railway crossing near Slavonice, there is a final stop at the breeding horse ranch where you can also enjoy a horseback ride. The route ends at the intersection before the entrance to the square in the center of Slavonice. The total length of the “Fauna and Flora” route is 48 km.
