    Safety information

    • Always check the lighting system, brakes, tires, and reflectors of your bicycle before starting!
    • Wear bright, reflective clothing in poor visibility (dusk, darkness, fog, etc.). Alternatively: vest or ankle bands with reflector strips.
    • Especially in autumn and winter, fallen leaves on the ground can hide possible unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path.
    • Attach tall bicycle flags to your children's bikes so even the smallest riders are well noticed in traffic.

    Roadbook

    1. Stoa - the Ice Age erratic: the Stoa is a stone that was ground down by the Inn glacier during the last ice advance of the Würm Ice Age in Tyrol and pushed as far as Edling. The Stoa was discovered in 1989 during gravel excavation and could not be moved due to its unusual dimensions (length 7m, height 4.5m, width 5m, weight approx. 200t). Today, the stone is part of an open-air theater along with many other erratics.
    2. Late Celtic rectangular rampart of Fürholzen (approx. 1st century BC): the origin of this rampart is largely unclear since only few finds could be made during excavations. Interpretations range from an animal pen with a farmstead to a Roman marching camp.
    3. French Cross in Felling (18th/19th century): the cross got its name from a painted wooden panel in which the story of a Fraz farmer in Felling who was wrongly murdered by a Frenchman is recorded.
    4. Hallstatt-era burial mounds in Steinbucher Forest: the custom of mound burials dates back to around 750 BC. This cemetery consists of 32 mounds on both sides of the path. In the graves, burial goods such as a bracelet, ceramics, and a bucket made of thin bronze sheet were found.
    5. Medieval refuge castle (9th/11th century): the castle site was probably a wooden-earth construction from the early Middle Ages. The facility was then protected by steep slopes on the east and west sides towards the Lindererbach.
    6. Stone cross (17th century): the reason for erecting this cross is largely unknown, but it is assumed that the cross could be a memorial to an accident. The stone cross bears the initials C E and the year 1619....
    7. Hart Castle (17th century): Jacob Hauser, caretaker in Wasserburg and electoral colonel, acquired the former estate in 1640 and built the castle with a castle chapel. This building built in Baroque style changed mostly noble owners over centuries and is nowadays privately owned. The castle chapel can be visited by appointment.
    8. Burgstall/Weiherhaus Hochhaus (12th/13th century): the castle site in Hochhauser Forest is a pond house that was located on an egg-shaped island in the middle of a small lake. A narrow strip of land separates the Spitzgraben from the lake shore. In the Middle Ages, a tower-like building (High House) stood on the dome-shaped elevation, whose owners were probably the Edlinger family. Today, in its place is a small residential house from the early 20th century.
    9. Roman road (approx. 1st/2nd century): the road was probably a traffic route along which settlers built their agricultural estates. The path was then likely systematically expanded and used as a salt road in the Middle Ages.
