Your Darß exploration starts at the parking lot north of the Prerow harbor.

Over the dike heading north, you reach the main bike path along the Prerow area. Via Villenstraße with the former hunting lodge of Prince Eitel Friedrich (house number 4), continue west into Bernsteinweg. On the opposite side of the street, you ride on the unpaved lighthouse path about 5 km through the national park to Darßer Ort.

After about 1 km riding toward Prerow, turn right into the k-stencil. The paved path leads you to Großer Stern, past the grave of forester Ferdinand von Raesfeld, who lived and worked as forester, hunter, and author for 23 years on the Darß. Following his trail, Darß enthusiasts continue via Linder Weg to the spa town Born. In the town center, you will find the Hunting and Forestry Museum “Ferdinand von Raesfeld” (Chausseestraße 64) with much information about the author and his works such as “Das deutsche Waidwerk” and the Darßwald as a special forestry and hunting area. Following Chausseestraße east, explore the historic Born with many notable thatched-roof houses.

At the town exit, turn right onto Bliesenrader Weg toward Bliesenrade. The roadside is adorned by an ancient oak and the memorial plaque of forester Freiherr von der Recke.

After a relaxing ride over the dike along the Bodden, you reach the town Wieck a. Darß. The town center invites you to linger, among others with the National Park Information and Guest Center Darßer Arche presenting an exhibition about the national park. Past the Wieck harbor and over Südkaten, your Darß route takes you through the meadow landscape on paved paths back to the starting point, the harbor of Prerow.

    Safety information

    • Cycling and hiking only on designated paths
    • Be especially careful after storms.
    • In autumn, be aware that fallen leaves can cover unevenness, roots, stones, or holes on the path.
    • Wear weather-appropriate, practical clothing that protects you from cold and wet or heat and sun
    • Always pay attention to your bike's road safety. We recommend wearing a bicycle helmet for your own safety and as a role model for others.
