The route from Bad Sooden-Allendorf to Witzenhausen and back to Bad Sooden-Allendorf via Wendershausen is approximately 45 km / route partly steep.
Through the railway/B27 underpass, the route leads via Bahnhofstraße to the 3rd Werra bridge and turns left into Fischerstad. Then it continues on the Werratal cycling route "W" to Wahlhausen. Next, you reach Lindewerra. Here, stick manufacturing is a tradition. Hiking, medical, walking sticks and many other products of this rare craft find their way from here to the "rest of the world."
Continuing along the Werra under the railway bridge to Werleshausen. Following the signposted cycle path "W" to Witzenhausen. Before the district Unterrieden, you have the option to turn left and cross a wooden footbridge (over the Werra) to get to Witzenhausen or ride through Unterrieden and behind the railway overpass take the cycle path parallel to the B 80 to Witzenhausen. Passing Unterrieden, then into the cherry town of Witzenhausen. But it’s not only the cherries and historic half-timbered houses – the "smallest university town" in Germany houses the faculty of Agriculture, International Agricultural Development and Ecological Environmental Protection of the University of Kassel within its historic walls. The tourist office is happy to advise on further sights.
After sightseeing in Witzenhausen, you can also use this route to return to the spa town. From the Bürgerhaus am Sande, follow the cycle path to Wendershausen. After passing through the village (about 100 m), turn right towards Hilgershausen to the "Altes Gericht" (Old Court). - Altitude 350 m above sea level - This was once the meeting place of the Vogt court Rückerode. Today it is a barbecue and rest area with "judge seats." Then continue to the village of Hilgershausen and on to Kammerbach. In Kammerbach towards the Meißner Nature Park (Kolenstraße) and after the town sign (approx. 40 m) turn left to Orferode.
From Orferode at the village lime tree turn right into Dohlsbachstraße to Jogglis Ruh, then left into the forest. The cycle path leads towards the former Lückertshof inn, past the burial mounds and the Roman camp, in the direction of Bruchteiche.
Following the path between the ponds, you reach the street "Am Bruch." Here, turn right and shortly afterwards left again into the street "Auf den Teichhöfen." Along the railway track, the street leads to the graduation tower and back to the starting point.
