The path takes you along the Werra and the Werratal Lake into the district town of Eschwege with its historic city center. How about a break at the Werratal Lake? The route offers you numerous opportunities to stop for refreshments.

    Author’s recommendation

Stay a little at the Werratal Lake or stop at one of the many cafés and restaurants along the way for a short break. You will also pass playgrounds and water tread pools. At Meinhardsee (boat lake near Grebendorf) there is also a dog beach.

From the starting point WerratalTherme, the ride goes through the underpass of the railway and the B 27 into Bahnhofstraße. At the end of the 3rd Werra bridge, turn right. The route now leads through the city moat, along the sports halls and the sports boarding school, continuing towards the excursion restaurant Fischerstübchen. In the Werra meadows, continue straight ahead, along the forest edge below Rothestein Castle, up to the Zaubersbrücke (slightly ascending). From Kleinvach, continue to Jestädt, initially following the "Werratal- and Herkules-Wartburg" cycle path at the town exit towards the leisure center Werra-Meißner-Kreis, and further on to Grebendorf. From there past Wolfsbrunnen Castle to Schwebda. Before the town exit, turn left (access to Wolfsbrunnen Castle) over the old railway line, then right to Frieda.

At the end of the cycle path, turn right onto the town road towards Aue / Niederdünzebach. About 200 m behind the Werra bridge (cycle path) towards Eschwege, pass the Leuchtberge. Here, two works from the "Art on the Cycle Path" project are passed.

The historic old town with pedestrian zone invites you to linger. Freshly refreshed, continue via Bahnhofstraße to the railway and into Niederhonerstraße. Those who do not want to continue on this road can turn right at "Kuhtrift" and continue past the new industrial area "Thüringer Straße" to Niederhone. Niederhone is reached via the bridge over the B 249. Now continue on the Werratal- and Herkules-Wartburg cycle path via Albungen to Kleinvach. From Kleinvach, either return via the Zaubersbrücke and the Fischerstübchen excursion restaurant back to the starting point.
