Selected alternatives for you

Bike around the half of the Chiemsee and then "bikeless" return to the starting point by boat. That is what makes this route so extraordinary. You start from Prien at the Chiemsee, cycle along the beautiful northern shore of the lake, and then drop off your bike in Chieming, on the other side of the lake. Return to your starting point by boat.

Part of the path is shared by pedestrians and cyclists, so please be especially considerate here and adjust your speed accordingly!

Combination of bike tour and boat trip!

Start in Prien a.Chiemsee, along the northern shore to Chieming and from there back to the starting point via the Chiemsee islands.

Alternatively, the tour is also possible in reverse order, starting at Chieming and ending in Prien, with return to Chieming by boat.

This bike tour thus offers you two advantages:

    1. The lake can be partially circled by bike, and from its most beautiful side

    2. You can take a relaxed, completely stress-free break on one or both Chiemsee islands without a bike! Because cycling is not allowed on the islands.

From the northern shore, the Chiemsee shows itself in all its splendor and the view of the mountains, which accompanies you the whole time, is unbeatable. This section of the lake also features the most beautiful eateries and the most idyllic bathing spots. All in all, pure enjoyment!

The 32 km long route leads via Gstadt and Seebruck without significant climbs and can therefore be enjoyed by young and old. Don't miss making nice breaks, that is almost a must – it would be a shame otherwise. Suitable bike for every behind – that's the motto. Choose whatever you like – ladies', men's or children's bike, mountain bike, e-bike, or cruising with a cool townie.

    Safety information

    • Part of the path is shared by pedestrians and cyclists, so please be especially considerate here and adjust your speed accordingly!
    • Always check your bike's lighting system, brakes, tires, and reflectors before starting!
    • Wear bright, reflective clothing in poor visibility (twilight, darkness, fog, etc.). Alternatively: vest or ankle bands with reflective strips.
    • Especially in autumn and winter, fallen leaves on the ground can conceal possible unevenness, roots, stones or holes in the path.
    • Attach high bike flags to your children's bikes so even the smallest riders are easily seen in road traffic.
    • Rescue meeting points have been established along the Chiemsee circular route and Chiemsee bike path.

Follow the signage of the Chiemsee circular route along the northern shore. From the Kaufmann mini golf course in Prien, head north towards the Schafwaschener Bay. Here the Prien river (the second largest tributary) flows into the Chiemsee. Continue towards Urfahrn and Breitbunn until you reach Gstadt. Via Gollenshausen, you reach Seeon-Seebruck and from there it is not far to Chieming. In Chieming, take the steamer to the islands and back to the starting point at Prien/Stock.
