Land der 1000 Hügel - Kraichgau-Stromberg
The Brackenheim circular route – Experience the wine town of Brackenheim by bicycle on a circular route through all the districts with many possible start and end points along the way.
Eight parts, one whole – the unifying motto of the eight districts of Brackenheim.
Karl Seither and Emil Veigel, both enthusiastic cyclists and natives of Brackenheim, developed the culturally diverse and scenically beautiful cycling route together "to present all districts with their places to stop and sights." It is meant to be a path for all citizens and tourists in Brackenheim to explore the whole town in a sporty way. The first joint ride along the original circular route took place in June 1995, "simple and with little elevation." Connections to regional cycling paths are also possible. The newly signposted 26 km on today’s Brackenheim circular route offer you a wonderful way through colorful vineyards in the region and all eight districts of Brackenheim!
You can start the route in any district. The extensive signage leads you easily and safely through the Heuss and wine town with its seven districts. Cycle past the marketplace of the core town and marvel at the historic town hall there. Then a stop at the Theodor Heuss Museum in Obertorstraße is recommended to learn more about the life of the first Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany, who was born here in Brackenheim and spent his early years here. Take the opportunity on the way to stop at the local history museum in Botenheim. Then discover the Alte Kelter in Meimsheim and on the way to Hausen an der Zaber the Jupiter giant column, which gives you a small insight into Roman culture of the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD. Explore the small animal world behind the Maria Magdalena Church, which dates from three different eras, in Dürrenzimmern. Continue touring through the vineyards, past the impressive Neipperg castle and the Alte Kelter with its funny man in a barrel in Haberschlacht. Admire the view of Stocksberg Castle and enjoy the beauty of our wine towns as a whole.
How about a break in between? Dive into the world of fine wines – where they originate. On Sundays and public holidays, the wine huts at Zweifelberg, Mönchsbergsee, and the hut at Bühl invite you to stop by and relax. There are also the typical Swabian Besenwirtschaften and other places to refresh yourself at every corner to gather strength for the next stages.
