We start heading north, ride along the bike path and turn into the driveway to the festival hall. This leads us right into Ahornallee. We ride directly past the festival hall to the King Ludwig II bell. Then we cycle left behind the festival hall to the northern access road and go under the federal road B16 towards Kaufbeuren. After 20 meters, we turn right over the road bridge and immediately right again. We are directed by the sign "white sign with green bicycle" to the bike path along the federal road. There we ride about 500 meters until a quiet, paved road branches off to the right. We follow the signpost towards Roßhaupten. Soon we reach Café Maria, ride past its lake terrace and reach a narrow side road at the village exit. The road first rises slightly, Roßhaupten is signposted again here. When we leave the village Osterreinen, we reach a crossroads and go straight ahead. On a little frequented side road, it continues through slightly rising terrain. We leave the Schleichbach bridge behind us and reach the village Dietringen. Now we turn left, following the sign "Forggensee circular route" steeply up the hill. In this way, after 200 meters we reach the federal road to Kaufbeuren again. We follow the road course to the right on a bike path and cross the spectacular high bridge over the valley of the Bernmoosbach. Along the B16, after about 1.5 km we reach a crossroads, here we turn right, signposted Halblech. On a bike path, we reach the northernmost point of our tour. After the descent from Straußberg, we turn right towards Halblech. We pass the rest area "Art Park Via Claudia Augusta" and continue uphill to the Roßhaupten power plant. Its dam holds back the Lech river between June and October. In the winter half of the year, the Lech carries little water. Therefore, the water of the Forggensee is released in the winter months and the lake shrinks meter by meter. We leave the Bavarian Waterworks dam behind us and now face a long climb on the western flank of the Illas mountain. The view of the Alps compensates for the effort of the climb. In the district See, a quiet resting place is offered at the Illasbergsee; swimming is also possible in the summer. Another climb awaits us, short and steep up to the village Kniebis. Behind the village, our road turns south. On a pleasant descent, we roll towards the Alps. 100 meters behind Rauenbichl, the bike path ends; here we turn right to Greith. There we follow the sign "Forggensee circular route". Now, although small hills block our view of the Forggensee, we have fantastic views of the Alps lying ahead. The shore of the Hegratsrieder See invites to a rest, swimming is also possible here. Behind the bridge over the Mühlberger Ach, we turn right towards "Füssen 7 km" to Waltenhofen. There we pass left by the church Mariä Himmelfahrt. To the right, it goes to the shore of the Forggensee. However, the path along the shore is reserved for pedestrians. We continue on the road to the district Schwangau-Horn. Here, a Stone Age hunting station was discovered on the shore of the Lech. The "Forggensee circular route" is signposted again now. Through the district, we reach the Lech dam in Füssen. Here we cross the Lech; on the opposite shore, we orient ourselves north, turning right according to the sign "boat harbor." After about 2 km, we reach the boat harbor. Here there are several inns inviting you to pause after the long route. Swimming is also possible in summer here.
