The Berlin-Dresden cycle path is a suggested route for bike tours between Berlin and Dresden. The route stretches over 251 km between the Frauenkirche in Dresden and the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. Signposting of the route is being aimed for in the long term. Although the route currently exists only "on paper," it is already quite rideable: All paths (except for a few unavoidable small gaps) are asphalted or well compacted, free or lightly used by motorized traffic, and open despite extensive old open-cast mine reclamation measures in Lusatia.

    Roadbook

The goal is to have a direct and comfortable long-distance cycle path between Berlin and Dresden.

Long sections over muddy or bumpy paths are excluded. However, to avoid long detours, a very few "push sections" and short gap closures over paths with poor surfaces are included. It is also quite possible to use the cycle path with a child trailer.

Many signposted cycle routes are located along the route, so the Berlin-Dresden cycle path mainly follows these and enhances them. It is not practical to expand the network of cycle routes, as maintaining the existing network is already a challenge.

Only paths that are currently rideable (and will remain so in the foreseeable future) should be used. The Berlin-Dresden cycle path can be cycled immediately.

    Public transport

The cycle path is easily accessible by train at: Berlin Central Station, Berlin-Grünau, Königs Wusterhausen, Kablow, Halbe, Lübbenau, Lübben, Vetschau, Sedlitz East, Senftenberg, Schwarzheide East, Ortrand, Radeburg (narrow gauge railway), Dresden-Neustadt as well as Dresden Central Station.
