The starting point of the GPX track is the old train station in Hützemert. Of course, you can begin this loop tour from any location. Along the route, you’ll find three reservoirs, three dams, and the “Wegeringhauser Tunnel,” which, at 724 m, is the longest bicycle tunnel in North Rhine-Westphalia. It’s not just the landscape between the reservoirs that’s worth seeing. There are many interesting sights along the way. It’s well worth visiting the Hützemert train station, the “Bunte Kerke” in Lieberhausen, the Schlüsen nature trail near Schützenbruch, and the “KulTour,” an art trail near Kalberschnacke.
Also worth seeing are the Bigge Dam, the “Biggeblick” (a magnificent viewing platform overlooking the lake), the chapel in Waldenburg, St. Martin’s Church and St. Valentine’s Chapel in Olpe, the Eichener Mill, the market square and the St. Clemens Basilica in Drolshagen, and the hedge maze near Drolshagen-Stupperhof.
Places to stop for refreshments: Hützemert Train Station Rest Stop, Feldmann Pernze Inn, Rengser Mühle in Lieberhausen, Lüdespert, Schreibershof, Kalberschnacke, Biggesee Lighthouse, Olpe Boathouse, Rosenthal, Eichenermühle, Drolshagen Market Square. However, some of the places listed are only open on weekends.
