There is, however, a path accessible via a small ascent of only about 100 meters in elevation. Then the freerider has over 1,600 meters of excellent freeride terrain with almost countless variations available. However, especially in the summit area of the Zamangspitze, the slopes are relatively steep and require secure conditions. Particularly under sunlight or warming, the south-facing slopes can become critical very quickly, which is why the summit is almost plastered with numerous avalanche barriers.
As always: When you are at the right place at the right time, you can experience a top-class freeride adventure that also ends directly at the valley station of the cable car and virtually begs for a repeat.

Warning: The descent from the Zamangspitze is definitely not a beginner's route and should only be undertaken by experienced freeriders in favorable conditions. The ascent alone requires surefootedness and is partly prone to falling! The upper section of the descent is particularly critical from an avalanche perspective. In addition, orientation can be difficult in poor visibility. Careful study of the map should be a matter of course, as well as extensive engagement with the avalanche report. Those who are not sure and do not have the necessary experience should only undertake the tour with a mountain guide.Roadbook
From the mountain station of the Hochalpila cable car, follow the piste past the mountain station of the Kreuzjoch cable car and continue in a southeast direction until it becomes quite obvious that there is only one path along the ridge leading to the Zamangspitze. The first part is fairly relaxed, and you can easily push with skis on your feet, but then the terrain becomes rockier and the ridge becomes somewhat exposed. The last section in particular should be approached with caution, as it is very steep and rocky. Additionally, the slopes on the left and right sometimes drop almost vertically, requiring absolute surefootedness. The summit takes about 30-45 minutes in total.
Descent
In the upper section, the route leads south, where you should initially stick to the ridge. Under very safe conditions, you can also follow the gully to the right in the upper part but should leave it to the left again as soon as possible. From this point, you should keep roughly half-left. This requires some navigational skills because in poor visibility, there are few to no landmarks. The terrain on the far left is very steep and secured with avalanche barriers; the middle is even steeper and prone to slipping. The exact descent route should be carefully decided right on-site (check the map!!).
After leaving behind the steep summit area and avalanche barriers, the terrain opens towards the Zamangalpe, offering ideal slopes and a perfect playground. From here on, the further descent is relatively straightforward since the marked trail leads from the Zamangalpe via the hamlet "Tannafreida" into the valley. This path should be followed more or less, but at the latest from an altitude of about 1,600 meters, since the forest begins again. Short excursions into the underbrush are possible at any time, depending on snow conditions.
The further route then zig-zags down numerous hairpin bends and passes underneath the Grasjoch cable car at an elevation of 1,200 meters. In very high snow conditions, another descent along the gondola cableway route could be considered. However, sensible people stay on the forest road, as after about another 800 meters of path, you come out of the forest and can now descend on the right through open areas next to the first houses to the road. Then ascend a few meters to the left along the road until you can descend the remaining meters on the right to the lift again.
