Safety information
ATTENTION
When riding the Powder Department Runs, you leave the secured skiing area! The routes are NOT groomed, NOT secured against avalanches (and other alpine dangers), and are NOT monitored. The Powder Department Runs are (like the free skiing area) neither closed nor declared "open."
You act entirely at your own risk and move outside the liability area of the cable car company, which only offers the open, groomed slopes and ski routes for descent and disclaims all liability.
MOST IMPORTANT RULES
++ New snow or rain always leads to an increased avalanche risk.
++ The first nice day after a snowfall is considered particularly accident-prone!
++ Fresh wind slabs are often easily triggered.
++ Rapid, significant warming and/or strong sunshine increase avalanche danger.
++ Poor visibility (fog) makes orientation difficult and also complicates the assessment of avalanche danger.
Tips and suggestions
Roadbook
This run requires a good snow cover to really enjoy it – otherwise, you can register for the base service at the Intersport shops at the Stubai Glacier right away. Start just like with RUN No. 7 - The Wall, but do not stay right; instead, stay left of ski route No. 40 - Fernau Wall and then go straight down. Due to the exposure, the sun reaches the slope late, which is why powder snow stays longer here.
HAZARDS
From the distinctive terrain edge "sharky" terrain (helmet!) - best to check and remember the correct entrance already from the lift. Usually, this run is not rideable at the beginning of the season – good conditions only from January. Attention: Please be considerate of other winter sports enthusiasts when returning to the slope.
