Safety information
The glacier presents no technical difficulties, but the danger of crevasses should not be underestimated. To avoid losing orientation in fog, a GPS-capable device with corresponding maps should not be dispensed with.Tips and suggestions
Roadbook
From the Hochjoch Hospice on a signposted and marked path in switchbacks up the slopes of the Rofenberg. After about 45 min. (turnoff to the Vernagthütte) the terrain becomes somewhat flatter until the path steepens again leading into the southern flank of the Guslarspitze. At an altitude of about 2,900 m, a long, barely ascending traverse begins, passing the striking white stone cairn (nice resting place!) leading to the northern edge of the Kesselwandferner. Over the glacier initially ascending, then almost level in a wide arc westward to the rock spur of the Dahmannspitze and the already visible Brandenburger House. Marked trail traces lead over the rocks of the Dahmannspitze to the Brandenburger House.
