Hochwilde - Traverse (2-day high alpine route)
Author’s recommendation
Day 1: The Annakogel can be bypassed on the west side.
Day 2: From the Gurgler Eisjoch to the Hochwildehaus there is the possibility to cross between the Mitterkamm and Annakogel along the ascent route on the glacier down to the Hochwildehaus (saves elevation).
After another overnight stay at the Langtalereck Hut, the Schwärzenkamm via ferrata can still be conquered on the third day and, subsequently, the Ramolhaus can be visited via the well-marked and partially secured path at the glacier forefield of the Gurgler glacier, followed by a hike from there to Obergurgl.

Tips and suggestions
The Stettiner Hütte was destroyed by an avalanche in winter 2014 and only offers emergency accommodation in a temporary (but well-equipped) extension (information: http://www.stettiner.13h.de/)Roadbook
Day 1: From Obergurgl follow the signs to the Langtalereck Hut on a forest road, then continue on a well-marked path to the Hochwilde House. Pass this and follow the markings towards the Gurgler glacier. At the glacier, roped up, staying on the eastern side of the Mitterkamm, ascend to the Annakogel. On the southern side, after a short, not very demanding climb, return to the glacier and to the start of the newly constructed, easy via ferrata (max. B, a via ferrata set is recommended for less experienced climbers) to the north summit of the Hochwilde. Following the protections further to the south summit (3482m), 20m higher, the highest point of the route is reached. Continue over the newly created, partially secured and steep path (entry near the cairn on the southern subpeak) down to the Stettiner Hut.
Day 2: Ascent to the Eisjöchl and descent to the Grubalm (before the bridge turn right and follow the initially faint markings). From the Grubalm head north following the path or traces towards the Gurgler Eisjoch. The initially quite hard to find markings along the traces are replaced shortly before the pass by newly installed protections and markings, already visible from the Grubalm. At the Eisjoch, roped up, descend the Gurgler glacier on the west side of the Mitterkamm down below the Hochwildehaus, where new markings guide you to the path towards the Langtalereck Hut.
