Relatively easy but beautiful north face ascent in the Ötztal Alps. As a day route from Vent, a challenge for your fitness. Those who really want to enjoy the route should start in spring when the face is not yet bare.

    Author’s recommendation

Best to start in late spring or early summer, when the face is not yet bare!

    Roadbook

From the lift parking lot in Vent in the Ötztal, first cycle along the forest road (partly steep) best with an MTB (E-Bike recommended) 8 km to the Martin-Busch-Hütte (2,501 m). After the hut, ascend on the marked path to the Marzell ridge. At the plateau at about 2,800 m, a small trail (signpost Hintere Schwärze) branches left down into the glacier basin. 100 m descent onto the glacier. First, ascend the glacier straight along the moraine. Then cross in a wide left arc under the glacier break to the other side of the glacier. The glacier soon flattens and you head straight towards the entry (3,300 m) to the north face. Slightly right of center, ascend the north face straight up (260 m elevation gain, up to 55°). Along the west ridge to the summit. For the descent, return along the west ridge. Above a slope about 35° steep, you can usually take off your skis. In the upper part, ski down keeping left and traverse at the plateau to the ascent route.
