Herzlich willkommen auf der Martin-Busch-Hütte!
Der Bau der Martin-Busch-Hütte begann in den dreißiger Jahren des vorigen Jahrhunderts, wurde jedoch kriegsbedingt erst 1953 fertig gestellt. Da die Hütte am vielbegangenen Weitwanderweg E5 liegt, ist sie in der Hochsaison häufig überbucht, zudem sind wegen der geringen Zahl die Betten sehr begrenzt.
Nach dem Umbau 2013 ist die Hütte jetzt mit modernen Sanitäranlagen ausgestattet, doch noch immer sind die Gasträume zu gering. Bei schönem Wetter ist ohnehin die Terrasse mit einem grandiosen Blick auf die umliegende Bergwelt der weitaus angenehmere Ort.
Trotz der zurückgehenden Gletscher ist die Martin-Busch-Hütte immer noch ein Eldorado für klassische Hochtouren. Mit Hinterer Schwärze, Similaun, Finailspitze, Mutmalspitze oder Hauslabkogel gibt es Gipfelziele in vielen Schwierigkeitsstufen.
Der Panoramaweg Marzellkamm oder die Ötzi-Fundstelle am Tisenjoch sind weitere Ziele in der Umgebung.
Einen Besuch wert ist die Hütte jeweils am zweiten Samstag im September wegen eines besonderen Schauspiels: Dann werden die aus dem Niederthal kommenden Schafe am Freitag auf der Alm zusammengetrieben, die sich in der Umgebung der Hütte befindet, und am frühen Samstag nach Südtirol getrieben. Da heißt es, früh aufstehen, aber es lohnt sich!
