Safety information
Alpine experience and good weather are required for the crevassed Taschachferner. Additionally, you should check in advance whether the ropes of the via ferrata at Mitterkarjoch are free of snow.Tips and suggestions

Roadbook
From the Breslauer Hütte, follow the clear mountain path, which ascends northwest below the Urkundkopf into the wide Mitterkar. Here it bypasses two large rock ridges coming from the Wildspitze on their west side and then leads to the right for a short distance into the upper cirque of the former Mitterkar glacier. Here, turn left and climb steeply with the help of steel cables and footbars to the Mitterkarjoch, which allows the transition to the upper Taschachferner. (Here the optional ascent of the Wildspitze is possible to the right).
Follow the Taschachferner gently descending west for a short distance and then turn right to bypass the glacier crevasse on the right in a wide curve.
Now continue northwest still gently descending toward the Mittelberg Joch visible from afar, which you reach via clear trail tracks that lead up a steep scree slope to the right of the glacier.
From the Mittelberg Joch, continue northeast, first gently, then one steeper descent to the large glacier basin west of the Linker Fernerkogel. Continuing in the same direction, you finally reach marker poles that lead from the glacier ski area to the Braunschweiger Hütte. Follow these to the right, reach the eastern lateral moraine, and continue in the same direction on the clear path to the Braunschweiger Hütte, visible from afar.
