Best combined with the East Ridge.
The approach and descent require some orientation skills. All trails are unmarked and partly faint.
Protection must be set by yourself but is possible without problems.
Difficulty: 3+. Due to the lack of fixed bolts, finding the optimal line is not easy.
Rock quality: 2 out of 4. The rock is very rough but partly crumbly — test holds and blocks!
Protection: No bolts present. Anchors on solid trees; small and medium friends can be well used for intermediate protection.
You can find a topo in the climbing guide “Leichter Fels im Wilden Osten” by Thomas Behm — a treasure trove for technically easy but demanding scrambles, not a pleasure climb!

Author’s recommendation
- On the descent, you pass almost directly by the start of the East Ridge, which is ideally added.
- If you want to do the Silberstiege AFTER the East Ridge, cross from the East Ridge start (scree field) at the base of the wall 200m / 3 minutes horizontally north and climb steeply before the first descending rock spur to the Heisserhöhle. Not easy to find, only faint trail marks.
- Behind the church in Sieding is a playground and a small animal enclosure with goats that can be petted.

Roadbook
Approach: 320 m ascent / 0:50 h.
At the start of the parking lot (in front of the church) on a narrow path, first along a fence, east into a gully (5 minutes). At a large stone, out of the gully on the left and up onto the adjacent ridge. Up the ridge only briefly and then diagonally right back into the gully. After 30m again left out onto the ridge, cross it and steadily ascend slightly left to a horizontal path. On this path turn right. After 80m a small trail branches off left, leading up to the Heisserhöhle (approx. 790m), which only becomes visible shortly before. Left of the cave, up a short rock step (1) to the start of the “Silberstiege” route. Elevation approx. 800m.
Route: 80 m ascent / 1:00 h.
The direct start (a vertical, demanding crack, 4+, no bolts) is bypassed left in an arc.
From the exit, the summit of Gösing is reachable in a few minutes.
Descent: 420 m
a) Shortest way (0:50 h): From the exit briefly up to a horizontal path and along this path to the right (southeast, along the edge of the wall) 300m / 4 minutes to a small gully. Descend westward in this gully and at the first opportunity keep right to the scree field at the start of the East Ridge.
[ From here the East Ridge start is reached in 40m across the scree field. ]
From here back to Sieding – several options, see map.
b) Towards southeast (1:00 h): Stay on the path southeast / south. After the “Warme Lucke” cave, turn right to the main road and follow it 1 km back to Sieding.
c) Nice circular route (6 km / 1:30 h): From the exit on a marked path left (north) towards the Naturfreundehaus Flatzer Wand, but at the big forest road crossing first left towards Stixenstein and Sieding. Finally in the valley on the wide hiking trail along the stream back to the church.
