We enjoy the evening sun at the Schöpfl shelter of the ÖTK
The Schöpfl, at 893 m, is the highest mountain peak of the Vienna Woods. In a volume about the monarchy published by Crown Prince Rudolf, the Schöpfl is praised as a special lookout mountain. On it, the Schöpfl shelter was built in 1906. It is located at 870 m, just below the summit (878 m above sea level). In close proximity stands the Matraswarte (893 m above sea level) of the ÖTK, built in 1898. It offers a magnificent view, from the Vienna Woods to the elevations of the Waldviertel, to Ötscher, Schneeberg, and the Danube valley.
